Thanksgiving 2013

Growing up on the prairies, the four seasons were very distinct and fall became my favourite.  There was the harvest, thanksgiving with pumpkin pie, crisp air, and lots of leaves to jump in.
October is also the month of my mom's birthday and my parents' anniversary. October 2013 sees them celebrate 60 years together. We, as a family, are hosting a dinner and evening in their honour with 60 people, one for every year they've been together.

As I reflect on their marriage, I'm struck by the wonderful legacy they've created for me, my children, and my grandchildren. In particular, both my parents always did their jobs to the best of their ability, and no task or job was ever beneath them. They always treated everyone equally and with respect. They taught me how to be happy in my work and I can honestly say I love what I do.
Both Rick and I wish you a wonderful fall season and hope you find time to reflect on what you have to be thankful for. And finally, if you dare, go out and jump in a pile of leaves.
